Carrier Ship Maintenance Bay (WIP)

Now that my first original design (the IBIS) is in the books, I wanted to move on to a more ambitious hard surface project - an entire aircraft carrier. Spacecraft carrier? It's in space, is the point.

Regardless, this is obviously WIP - but I wanted to show off the maintenance bay that I've been detailing this past week. It'll be a bit difficult to tell, but this spacecraft repair bay is nestled in the open-air hangar of the aircraft carrier, which is visible in the wide shot near the end of the album. I intentionally gave myself a great deal of space, but I still had to push down the flooring in the repair bay to allow for a single-person craft to fit snugly inside.

So, what is this project? In short, now that I don't have any 3d-related-deadlines coming up, I've decided to just keep developing this large ship and exploring all of the possibilities it entails. Beyond this one area and the exterior, I want to build out full interiors of the flight control deck, command bridge, hangar control deck and more.

Maintenance Bay - Wide Shot
Situated on the front side of the hangar bay, this repair section is equipped to fully service mid-size fighter craft. Above, the hangar control deck's wide viewport windows overlook the interior flight deck.

Maintenance Bay - Process Shot
Here's the more stripped-down version of the previous angle, with far less detailing. I've been doing a lot of greebles and sizing details to match the scale of a 6" human, which is a challenge.

Maintenance Bay - Repair Arm WIP
Not visible from the previous angles, these hydraulic arms are operated by the engineers responsible with keeping the fleet flight-ready. (Shoutout Kit Ops)

Interior Hangar Bay - Alternate Angle
Here's an earlier reverse angle to give you an idea of the hangar's size, as well as a look at the rail system that guides starfighters into the repair bay.

Carrier - Wide Shot
Still here? Hey, thanks for sticking around! This is a first look at the exterior of the carrier, complete with 270-degree-wraparound flight deck. Note the entrance of the hangar bay in the rear - this thing is HUGE.

Last Preview Angle -
Here's a front angle of the command bridge (front) and flight control bridge (rear) which oversees the entire flight deck. You can also see some of the walkways inlaid throughout the ship.
